piracy- if movies are distributed through illegal copies then the studios, actors, distributors and streamers will not make any money, and the industry will suffer as a whole.

Bbfc- the British board of film classification, is a non- governmental organisation founded by the film industry in 1912 and is responsible for the classification and censorship of films exhibited and released on physical media in the UK.

jungle book'67 is a U looking at 67 in modern eyes would prove to be challenging with the use of black stereotypes such as King Louis , played by jazz singer Louis prima, being depicted as an Ape

jungle Book'16 is a PG as it seen as 'darker' than the original 67 version because of the 'mild threat'. using Curran and Seaton's theory, you can see that Disney is clearly driven by profits by making the movie a PG top maximize audience.

because the 2016 jungle book had a higher rating, Disney would have a smaller audience to market to, perhaps leading to lower viewing numbers.

-Media ownership is the most significant factor in the way media industry works.

-The way that media ownership works means that the majority of media is dominated by a small number of conglomerates.

Disney, being one of the big 5, are the distributors of the jungle book. Critics have pointed out that the movie makes light of racial and political moments in the movie and dilutes them in an attempt to appeal to a mass audience and entertain. 

Films tend to lack a large amount of Diversity when the primary purpose of the movie is to make profits. Both 67 and 16 create an escapist narrative without challenging stereotypes.

Media regulations server a range of purposes and must balance a variety of consumer/citizen needs

regulations are needed to make sure the media promotes public interest

Traditional forms of media regulations are being challenged by the online and globalised media culture resulting form technological developments such as the internet.

Regulation theory

the idea that the UK regulation policy aka the Bbfc is driven by conflict to 'protect' but also allow diversity and choice.

Desensitisation and deregulation are key parts of this theory. disney Knew audiences would accept the movie being darker and therefore hoped for a PG rating
