Question 3 and 4
Question 3
Audiences and producers no longer find the concept of genre relevant to long form television drama. How far do you agree
In Long form tv drama, the concept of genres is becoming increasing outdated as producers blend conventions from multiple different areas of media, however, I still believe that genre is relevant in modern media. This can be seen with the Netflix series Stranger Things where rather than losing the concept of genre all together, have hybridized many genres into its tv show in an attempt to reach a larger audience. This is due to the fact that Netflix are entirely concerned with maximizing profits and must be as appealing to mass audience as possible. Whereas with DRs the killing, they are more fixated on only using the Nordic Noire genre, appealing to a far more niche ABC1 audience. Because of DR being a Public Service Broadcaster with a goal of being a refection of he country and point out social flaws in Denmark, DR are able to take risks and not be concerned with any mass appeal or profits.
