distributors choose which film tp distribute, often through seeing them at a film festival. they then decide on how many copies of the film they want and pay for each. They negotiate an initial release date and a site for exhibition basically meaning where and when. They agree on a budget and begin a campaign to promote the film before it is launched, this includes interviews, trailers, events, posters and other forms. they also use online platforms like websites which include information and links to videos.

what is distribution

getting your film out to audiences. this can be through platforms like Netflix, Hulu, YouTube ext.
other ways are like the film festival circuit. such as London Venice and others. once the movie is picked up by a company. theater distributor attempt to pay the least amount to the movie creators and will normal pay the least they can in advance and will only pay out when the movie makes money.
