Through the use of social media BBC breakfast has found a way to reach its target audience of 15-29 year olds effectively. This is due to the fact that their audience will be more used to using a social network like Twitter or Instagram rather than working a radio. Furthermore, due to the decrease of around 15% in the breakfast shows interest among its target audience, the use of social media for things like audience interaction has helped inflate the number of daily viewers. The use of social media to let the viewers choose things like songs to play or questions to ask guests makes the young audience feel like they have more of a voice and can often keep them listening to radio rather than other music app alternatives like spouting or Apple Music.

Use of rising talent

The breakfast show will often play songs from new rising stars through things like the live lounge, this appeals greatly to 15-29 year olds as it gives them the chance to hear new music as well as new artists to listen to. This also create a greater relationship between the bbc and younger talent who will be more likely to try and use the bbc as a platform to launch their career.

Political statements 

Due to the avid political nature of the 15-29 year old audience, large amounts of the breakfast shows news updates NewsBeat includes stories of gobla politics and political movement. This was common last year in the Black Lives Matter protests along with recently with the Storming of the US capitol and the military coup of Burma. Due to the more politically aware nature of the younger generation, the BBC has devoted more time and resources.
