Nordic Noire, also known as Scandinavian noire, is a genre of crime fiction set in the Scandinavian countries. The stories are normally set from a police point of view and tackle dark crimes like murder, kidnapping and rape whilst reflecting tones of racism and misogyny in daily Scandinavian society. The genre is in contrast to the typical English country house murder mystery akin to Sherlock Holmes or Gosford park.
